The Soft Museum
Twin entities known as Nico and Autumn fell to Earth from a sugar star (somewhere in the high cosmos) and were born into human bodies in Santa Fe, NM. They experienced early life apart but soon connected at the age of 12. Nico spent his childhood traveling around the North American west coast with his family and the volcanic island of Hawaii. Young Autumn experienced her early years in Santa Fe, Taos Pueblo and Comanche country. Notebooks were passed and together they shared dreams of becoming comic book artists, ufologists, and cryptozoologers. Thus began their quest to higher consciousness, creativity, and self expression.
In 2009 The Soft Museum was founded by Nico Salazar & Autumn Dawn Gomez.
It first started as a simple portfolio site to exhibit their own unique artistic styles. They began expanding their mediums and using various children's craft supplies to best express their vision of being children in an adults world. They created a signature 8-bit look to their jewelry which you all know and love. This created a bridge between reality and digital internet world by creating these pixelated talismans.
They now reside in The Soft Museum, a display of lifelong collections of soft articles and oddities documenting their adventures on planet Earth. Another creative entity, known as Max Sanders entered Earth around the same time. Maximus grew up in Seattle and traveled the North American West Coast and Mexico as a child before meeting up with the two in Santa Fe.
In 2012 they have expanded their site into a fully functional online store and forming The Soft Museum LLC. The Soft Museum shortly after joined Beyond Buckskin Boutique and through this connection formed the collaborative jewelry line between Paul Frank Industries and The Soft Museum's Autumn Dawn Gomez. The collaboration featured 3 other Native American artists who each created their respective collaborative line. Since the launch in August 2013, The Soft Museum has graced the cover of their hometown newspaper The Santa Fe New Mexcian as well as landed features on CNN, Jezebel, INStyle, Eyapaha Today, Amy Davis's YummyDress, set designed/dressed for Summer Channel's Where do we Go From Here music video by Andre Ross, starred and styled Low on High's music video EMO BOY and participated in 2 custom toy shows for Paul Frank/Saban and Blamo Toys at Toy Art Gallery in Los Angeles. On January 2nd 2014 Autumn Dawn Gomez was featured on Indian Country Today's 10 Ways Native Americans made waves in Art and Culture list for her work designing the Paul Frank collaborative jewelry line. Other accomplishments include The Soft Museum's Nico Salazar designing Romanian poet Igor Ursenco's book Monstrul Spaghetelor Zburătoare as well as illustrating a full length comic book The Return published by University of Washington.
Now in 2014 The Soft Museum plans to expand thier brand into a future of everlasting funk!
Stay tuned Softies!! The best is yet to come!!
